Wow! I was JUST thinking (independently) of this...
After reading & thinking @ some of the things said in Steve Hassan's books "Freedom of Mind" and "Cult Mind Control", I thought, 'hmmm.... let me try this scenario on my son (an ex-JW)'
Let's pretend I am coming up to you & asking, @ what you know about 1874, and after giving me all the lame replies of "Where did you get that? Why are you looking into the past? Are you apostate?" etc I don't give up and keep asking about 1874.. "You do not know?" "What would you tell someone in service?" "You still have not answered the question"
You finally reply "They are only imperfect men, they are not perfect, they make mistakes, they try their hardest." Which I have continually heard from many people when they try to explain MANY a subject.
Then I ask, "So, you are doing whatever imperfect, fallible men tell you to do. Is that the same thing the Bible tells us to do in Ps 146? to "not put our trust in men, to whom no salvation belongs." "Why did 'God' put that in there?
